The Art of Cake 2015

This year our annual cake decorating competition and exhibition is a Christmas themed event and will be held at the Queens Hall, London Road, Derby on Saturday 17th October.

It is open to beginners, intermediate and advanced skill levels and there will be a children’s category from ages 10-16 years. For a copy of the entry form click here – and for the rules click here, entries will close when we have reached capacity or by the 3rd October.

As work can take place on a dummy/polystyrene cake, this means work can be done well ahead of time and for children, this makes for a great summer holiday project! You do not need to be present on the day but obviously your cake does.

Further information is contained in a copy of the rules.

Entering a competition is a rewarding and challenging thing to do. You will force yourself to think outside the box whilst at the same time being somewhat restricted to working within the rules given.

The last two events have been very popular and the standard of work has been amazing. Although the theme is Christmas, everyone’s cake will be very different to the other and that’s what makes an interesting exhibition. The Derby Telegraph have covered the event in the past 2 years and they will be invited back this year.

There will be a pop up café on the day run by members of the Derby Branch of the British Sugarcraft Guild selling their home made cakes to raise money for their Guild.

Prize winners will be announced at 4pm sharp.

** The exhibition part of the competition has been cancelled due to limited entries. Sorry for any disappointment but it was not practical to hold it in such a large venue with only 20 cakes on display. **

Please don’t hesitate to contact Michelle on if you have any questions.
